Coastal Bend Residents Pay it Forward

Forced displacement can happen anywhere, even in our own backyard. The Unmentionables was founded in Texas in 2016 and with the widespread destruction caused by Hurricane Harvey, we had to help our home state and give those displaced by the hurricane a sense of comfort, hope, and dignity. Now that the storm has passed, this community is coming together again to pay it forward to refugees.

JBBM Consulting & Promotions, LLC., My Home Team Media and The Unmentionables’ fundraiser, “Cocktails & Unmentionables” was a great success last week. The event at the Solomon P. Ortiz Center in Corpus Christi featured a cocktail contest, a silent auction, live music, dancing, and local cuisine. The evening helped raise significant funds to provide dignity through hygiene to displaced people around the world.

Community members of the Coastal Bend also took the opportunity to pay it forward in a big way, joining The Unmentionables in meeting needs of families displaced by conflict and disaster.

“We saw Texans uniting to serve families further away who have experienced similar loss and trauma,” said The Unmentionables’ Texas native, co-founder, and Chief Operating Officer Megan Beck. “Due to their generosity, we were able to raise $7,500 with this event and will use the funds to help provide dignity through hygiene to refugees in other countries where the need is greatest.”

In the future, there will be even more opportunities for the Coastal Bend and other local communities to pay it forward. Stay tuned to The Unmentionables Facebook page for more information.
