An UNforgettable Birthday Celebration!

It’s unbelievable that it has been two years since the launch of The Unmentionables!

In that time we’ve expanded from a small project based in Greece to having 11 different projects that have served more than 55,844 beneficiaries and distributed 158,344 products in six countries.

This year alone we have continued to expand our programs and establish incredible connections with other passionate leaders. Kimora Lee Simmons became our Global Ambassador, shortly followed by her daughter Aoki who became one of our Youth Ambassadors. They both joined us in the field in Athens this summer. The Walking Dead’s Callan McAuliffe also became a Youth Ambassador in 2018.

At the beginning of this year we opened our Resource Center in Athens. There we’ve been able to provide art therapy; launch our Community Educator program, where leaders from the forcibly displaced community are trained in our sexual and reproductive health education curriculum so that they can then teach this vital information to people in their own communities, in their own language; and create a safe place where refugees are able to ‘shop’ for items donated through our Dignity Warehouse.

In April, we began a collaboration with the LA based jewelry brand, Ideal Woman, and created the limited edition Soheila necklace; designer Allie Pohl joined us the following month at the United States of Women Summit.  A few months later we developed a strong partnership with ThirdLove to provide bras to displaced women and girls, with their CEO, Heidi Zak, joining our Board. We’ve also partnered with Johnson and Johnson with the goal of raising $10,000 via their Donate a Photo App through the end of 2018.

Two of our team members became involved with the Young Leaders Against Sexual Violence initiative launched at One Young World 2018 - the same conference where we began our partnership with RB in 2017.

In the past month we launched UnFiltered, an online platform providing sexual education from your smartphone, with the help of Durex and RB. UnFiltered provides detailed, comprehensive information about topics such as puberty, how to determine if a relationship is healthy, what it means to ‘come out,’ information about sexually transmitted infections, and so much more. Designed to allow the most vulnerable people access to this life-saving information from the privacy of their own phones, translated versions of the app and an SMS function will be rolling out in the future.

While we are so proud of our growth over this last year, we are looking forward to what the next year will bring!

Let’s work together to continue protecting the dignity of all people. What can you do to help us celebrate this important milestone?

Shop our Dignity Warehouse where you can purchase condoms, underwear, educational classes, and dignity packs for men, women, and children we work with. Want to regularly show your support through donations? Become a monthly donor and have a sustainable impact on people around the world.

Are you social media savvy? Think about becoming one of our Social Ambassadors. All you need is access to the internet and a few minutes to share and post about our work! If you’d like to be more involved, be sure to check out the volunteer opportunities on our involvement page.

Our team is eternally grateful for the support of those who have helped us provide safe and consistent access to sexual and reproductive health education, services, products, and more over the past two years. You’ve helped us get to where we are, and are an important part of where we’re going.
