Dignity For All Bracelets: Q&A with Creator Sarah Nagus

Still looking for the perfect gift this holiday season? Why not give a gift that gives back! Small business owner Sarah Nagus has designed an aromatherapy bracelet specifically for The Unmentionables with all profits going to help provide dignity through hygiene to refugees around the world. Find out more about Sarah’s business Serendipitous and why she decided to get involved with The Unmentionables:

Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am currently a 4th year human resource management student at Western University. My hometown is in Kincardine, Ontario, where I've lived for about 10 years.

What inspired you to start designing and making bracelets?
Making jewelry is something that I've been doing for years now. It started as a hobby when I was about 14, and I worked for a lady in Kincardine who ran her own jewelry business. She was the one who taught me almost everything I know today. After a while I started my first business called Designs by Sarah, which focused mainly on craft shows. This summer I re-branded as Serendipitous. My style has evolved over time, and I have started using the diffuser beads in my pieces and wanted my business to reflect this. Serendipitous is more of a lifestyle brand - when you buy the jewelry, you are buying the beautiful lifestyle that comes with it!

How did you get involved with The Unmentionables?
My sister, Amy Nagus, is an intern for The Unmentionables. She was brainstorming fundraiser ideas and approached me about a partnership with Serendipitous. Since this organization has such a beautiful mission, I excitedly accepted.

You kindly offered to specially design bracelets for The Unmentionables, what encouraged you to do this and donate the proceeds?
The Unmentionables is a beautiful organization and I really support your mission. I believe that no one should have to go without sexual health and hygiene products, and that human rights need to be upheld even in the most troubling times. By donating the proceeds of this bracelet, I (and everyone who buys one!) can help make a difference in the lives of countless others.

Was there a particular reason behind the bracelet design?
The bracelet features yellow and black howlite beads with two lava beads on the ends. The yellow and black colors show the colors of The Unmentionables. Howlite is a nice stone to use because it's said to be calming and to help get rid of turbulent emotions.

Do you have any plans to expand your designs?
I am always growing and expanding! I usually only make of a few of each style, with many pieces being one of a kind. I am also looking to expand my retail market. I'm currently in 3 different stores but would love to add more.

Where can interested supporters find these beautiful bracelets?
These bracelets can be purchased on my website .
The Dignity for All Aromatherapy Bracelet is also available for purchase in The Unmentionables’ Dignity Warehouse.
